Vitality 4 Life ‘Living Juicers’

How do I know which juicer is right for me?

Firstly, determine what you want to juice, how often and for how many people. For those who want to juice wheatgrass and green vegetables, an Oscar or Hippocrates juicer is more suitable as the Champion will only do so in small increments. The Hippocrates and Champion can grind to varying degrees and the Oscar includes pasta making attachments. All of the motors are durable and built to last; the Oscar has the slowest RPM, then the Hippocrates followed by the Champion.

All of the 3 juicers use a different type of extraction process…

hippoThe Green Power Hippocrates is a twin gear juice extractor – the produce is crushed between the stainless steel twin gears which mesh together at 4/1000 of an inch apart, while the gears rotate in opposite directions.

oscar The Oscar Vital Max 900 is a single gear juicer – it has a food-grade polycarbonate ‘screw’ which uses a mortar and pestle action to crush and squeeze the produce into the juicing screen.

championThe Champion 2000+ is a masticating juicer – it has stainless steel blades which are attached to the cutter that spins.

Maximise the benefits of juicing and give your body optimum goodness. Unlock the key elements from the fibre in fruit and vegetable without destroying vital nutrients and living enzymes. The unique juice extracting methods which achieve Living Juice are available through Vitality 4 Life’s Products. What is Living Juice?baby oscar

The concept of living juice was first introduced by Dr. Norman Walker (1874-1983). Dr Walker declared that the enzymes in fruit and vegetables die at temperatures which exceed 50 degrees Celsius. He explained that any juice extractor that used a high-speed blade or centrifuge created friction heat leading to the destruction of enzymes. Nutritionists advise plenty of fresh, raw fruit and vegetables as essential to well-being but we only obtain the maximum benefits from them when the goodness is released from the fibre. Juicing will provide a highly concentrated nutrient drink. For optimum benefits the process must extract the goodness without destroying vital enzymes through heat. “Living Juicers” work on a gentle crushing and squeezing principle and living juice extracted at a low temperature holds up to 60% more minerals, vitamins and living enzymes.

The conventional/centrifugal juicer

Centrifugal juicers work by using a flat cutting blade at the base of a rapidly spinning strainer. Heat, static electricity and large amounts of air are drawn in; nutrients are destroyed as oxidation occurs. Essential enzymes in fruit and vegetable juice die at temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius. Any juice extractor using a high-speed blade or centrifuge creates friction heat and destroys vital nutrients. Juicing machines will allow you to take control of the quality of the produce, but extraction methods can still destroy vital nutrients, vitamins and living enzymes.

How the conventional/centrifugal juicer works..
The centrifugal force passes the produce through tiny holes in the strainer. The strainers are difficult to clean and they can't juice wheatgrass or leafy green vegetables effectively and economically. The pulp builds up in the strainer and the machine needs to be periodically emptied, making continuous juicing impossible. So there’s a lot of noise, a poor quality juice, a stop & start process, a large amount of wasted produce (wet pulp – not dry) and a difficult clean up afterward. No wonder so many people buy a juicer with good intentions for their health and the health of their loved ones and then give up shortly afterward!

Pre-packed juice

Pre-packed juices have lost most of their nutritional value which is then artificially supplemented after the reconstitution process. The result is an acidic, adulterated product which was never ‘cold pressed’ in the first place. A pure ‘living juice’ has the preferred alkalizing effect on the body and only Living Juice extractors create this superior Living Juice.

What can I juice?

The Hippocrates Juicer and The Oscar Vital Max will juice all types of fruit and vegetables. They are excellent for very fibrous vegetables such as carrots and beetroot and for more stringy leafed vegetables such as celery, silver beet and wheatgrass. All types of herbs can be juiced such as parsley which is high in iron and great for those on a vegetarian diet. It’s difficult to extract juice from a mango an apricot. No juicer will extract juice from these very pulpy fruits. However, with all our machines, you can use the pulpy fruits to make delicious frozen fruit desserts and frappes.

Nut Butters
Both the machines easily make great nut paste or nut butter. If you add oil, a creamier, smoother nut butter will come out. Take any type of nut or a mixture of nuts. Soak them for around six to eight hours if they are hard nuts. Run them through the machine using the mincing accessory. The nut butter will come out the front of the machine.

Pasta or Noodles
The Oscar comes with all the parts required to make pasta. The Hippocrates has a pasta kit that is an optional extra you can purchase.

How does the machine make pasta?
Take whatever type of flour you choose. You can add juice for colour and flavour instead of water as a mixing agent. For pasta, it’s a good idea to add an egg to the mixture. Keep the mixture as dry as you can. Put the mincing screen on and the appropriately shaped nozzle and start putting the mixture through the machine. Catch the pasta on a floured tray to keep the strands separated.
