Who can benefit from a vibration platform?

The vibration platforms have been used to help a wide variety of physical health complaints and reported benefits include an increase in a feeling of optimism; the stimulating effects of the vibration machine can help counteract certain types of depression and loss of motivation.

Scientific research on the effects of vibration platforms has been conducted all over the world.  Resulting publications in leading medical research journals suggests that people with debilitating conditions such as osteoporosis, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, and stroke victims can yield the benefit of exercise while working within their personal limitations and minimising stress on the joints and ligaments.

Vibration Technology available now for you to use at home!

The Vitality 600 features an oscillating platform - an action that is considered highly therapeutic and is used to aid skeletal alignment as part of a dedicated athletic training program or home rehabilitation plan. The Vitality 600 would be a great asset for a rehabilitation clinic, fitness and/or health club or at home as the ultimate home gym accessory. Unlike the commercial units available in Australia which can only be used 3 times per week, training sessions on this platform can be performed 2-3 daily so you’ll rapidly notice the benefits of using Vibration technology. Advanced Vibration Technology increases the production of regenerative and repair hormones, improves blood circulation, strengthens bone tissue, improves lymph drainage and increases basal metabolic rate. All this results in more strength, more speed, more stamina, rapid recovery of muscles and tissue from injury, increased flexibility, mobility and coordination, improved collagen production, fat reduction and an overall feeling of wellbeing.

History of the Vibration Platform Technology

Vibration therapy was first developed by scientists from the Soviet Space Program in a desire to improve bone density and muscle integrity in cosmonauts who experience prolonged times in micro gravity. The Russians discovered that cosmonauts, removed from the effects of gravity, developed significant bone density loss and muscle wasting (or sarcopenia). Profound improvements in muscle and bone density were obtained by using vibrating platforms to artificially super compensate for the future loss of gravity. As a result of this effect, Veteran Russian cosmonaut Valery Polyakov, a medical doctor, set the current world record for the longest continuous spaceflight when he spent about 438 days aboard Russia's Mir space station between 1994 and 1995. Then the Russian Olympic team found and embraced the technology after trialing Whole Body Vibration therapy with their gymnasts. Not until the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1989, did WBV technology find its way into other countries. WBV technology is finally being embraced by NASA, Professional Sports Teams, along with many allied health, medical and fitness experts throughout the United States. Decades of research and endorsement by professional athletes ensure that this innovative machine produces effective results.

How does it work?

In traditional strength and power training the load on the muscles is determined by the weight lifted. A specific frequency and amplitude of vibration is chosen and the movement of the plate loads the limbs. The vibrations stimulate a reflex contraction within the muscle which leads to a high level of muscle activation and exertion. The superior muscle-activation that the vibration machine stimulates compared to conventional training, means that less time is required to work muscle groups completely.

Setting the vibration machine
In order to achieve maximum results, the individual heart rate is used as a guideline for setting the intensity of the vibration. The body begins burning fat at approximately 65% of the maximum pulse rate. While exercising, the pulse rate should generally be at 60 - 70% in the first few weeks. Within a few weeks of undertaking a routine of 3 workouts per week of 30 minutes each, the intensity can be increased to the optimal fat burning rate of 70 – 85% of your maximum pulse rate.

As a rule of thumb, the following formula is commonly used:

Maximum pulse rate: 220 minus your age in years = your individual maximum pulse rate per min
Minimum pulse rate: Max PR x 0.7 = minimum pulse rate per min
Highest pulse rate for exercising: Max PR x 0.85 = highest pulse rate per min.

Speed range 1- 20…
The Vitality 600 has a speed range of 1 - 20 to cater for all types of needs including those of the elderly, those who are in rehabilitation, through to the professional athlete. The platform goes up and down at each side in a see saw fashion, tilting from the central axis.
Lower oscillating speed range - in general, the lower speed range is beneficial for bone strengthening, balance control, circulation, abdominal exercises and for those who are rehabilitating, frail and overweight.
Mid oscillating speed range - is helpful for improving circulation, reducing excess toxicity, combating depression or a general feeling of sluggishness and loss of motivation in life.
High oscillating speed range - for physically strong, healthy people and those in sports training.
